Grandpa's new sand box...

Since I had a shady corner of the back yard that wouldn't grow anything and since we didn't use the area I thought that it would make a great place for a sand box. After framing it in I brought in about five tons of washed and sifted sand that is soft and just like being at the beach now all I need is a couple of fake palm trees for the full effect. I will have to look out for some more trucks so I, I mean the grandkids can have more toys to play with.

Grandpa's new sandbox...

Since I had a big shady area in the back yard that wouldn't grow grass and was not being used for anything I framed it in and filled it will nearly five tons of sand. The sand is screened and washed so it is like going to the beach! Now I need to find some new sand box toys so we, I mean the grand kids can play in the sand. I also need to find a fake palm tree or two so it really will feel like being at the beach...

The results of my puttering...

I have always enjoied puttering and this year with the spring rains the yard looks really good. A couple of years ago we bought a lot of perinnials at the local garden clubs' plant sale and ever since we have been thinning them out and moving them around. They have done so well this year that if i don't trim them people wouldn't be able to get to the front door.

Colleen if the head water and weed girl and i am the mower and trimer. We make a good team and enjoy working together even though she would have only grass and no flower beds if she had her way.
